PEACE ~ GOODWILL TOWARD MEN

December 6, 2018

The phrase Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All Men
is synonymous with Christmas, conveying an implicit hope, a spirit of generosity and a kindly disposition toward others.

We, at Skijor USA, have embraced
this spirit from the moment we formed our organization
not only because it is the fabric of our own beliefs,
but also because it is what our community has most wanted.
Now, as the holiday season approaches, we
are reminded of this commitment to you
and promise to deliver it today
&
throughout our 2019 Skijoring Season.

~ TEAMWORK ~

In just eight short months,
we have formed an extraordinary team of dedicated individuals.

Members of our Corporate Council, our Advisory Committee,
our Hall of Fame Committee and our Race Delegates
now make up a varied and talented group of over 25 people.

They represent many states, many age groups, many levels of experience both
in competition and in event planning, and many points of view,
yet we are all working together successfully.

Last night, the Corporate Council and the Advisory Committee
met to discuss the 3D Format and the SJUSA Point Series.
We are putting the final touches on it
and will be meeting with Race Delegates on Monday
to discuss it even further.
Shortly, we will be announcing this program to
the Skijoring Community as a whole.

We have an extraordinary sport, a strong community and
a special family which will continue to grow stronger if we stay the course.

So THANK YOU to all who contribute to the positive spirit
of camaraderie and excitement for our future.

Thank you also for your patience as we grow.

~ SJUSA POINTS SERIES ~

Soon competitors will be able to designate teams to
nominate for points in three regions,
North, Central and South,
in order to qualify for our National Finals Championship
in West Yellowstone, Montana
on March 9th & 10th, 2019.

We are excited about this new format
and hope that you have an open mind and embrace it, too!

Our goal is to announce details by December 14, 2018.

~ NEW RACE ~

Skijor USA is thrilled to announce a new race in our Central Region!

Pinedale, Wyoming
will be hosting a two-day skijoring event
on Sunday & Monday,
February 17 & 18, 2019.

For many years, skijoring has been a part of Pinedale's Winter Carnival which raises money for many year round local programs.
Mainstreet Pinedale organizes the event
and Leah, Monte, Carly, Boomer & Keri will now be
working with Skijor USA and John & Kelli Hyde.
We are very fortunate to have such an experienced and enthusiastic
group in Pinedale.  The race stands to be a strong addition to
our Points Series, so come on "over, down, or up" to Pinedale
on Sunday & Monday of President's Day weekend!
(Saturday will feature Pinedale's famous Card Board Classic!)

NOTE: There are other strong races this weekend as well such as
Columbia Falls, Montana
(an SJUSA Points Race in the Northern Region);
Sundance, Wyoming*; Hailey, Idaho* and Silverton, Colorado*
(*not currently SJUSA Point Races)
and we support all of these events and their organizers.

The majority of these races have been held for many years over
President's Day weekend and we think you will find organizers saying that none have suffered directly as a result.
Each race has
grown over the years, not folded.
Sharing of weekends in NOT always counterproductive.  To the contrary.
Towns make the scheduling decisions, often above organizers.
The local populations support the events sufficiently, and our
larger community makes choices according to personal needs.

This is how skijoring is going to grow!

~ NEW DATES ~

In consideration of our Skijoring Family and
the larger Skijoring Community,
Skijor USA has decided to swap the dates
of our Steamboat Springs and Jackson Hole events.

Jackson Hole Skijoring
will be on
January 12 & 13, 2019
at the Teton County Fairgrounds

Steamboat Skijoring
will be on
January 26 & 27, 2019
at the historic Sherrod Ranch

Logistically, this works out better for everyone, and most importantly for the towns in which our events are held.
We hope that our cooperative spirit will speak for itself and
resonate with those who may sadly question our motives at times.

~ IN THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS, PEACE AND GOODWILL ~

We thought to bring your attention to a wonderful musical
that is now playing in both Minneapolis, MN and New York, NY.

ALL IS CALM
tells the story of the Christmas Truce of 1914
during World War I on the front lines.

This is a remarkable, true story, a testament to the human spirit of love and its search for peace even in the hardest of times and circumstances.

Loren Zhimanskova met the producer, Lauren Little, in New York.
Lauren also produced the Tony award-winning Broadway musical,
Come From Away.
Loren was fortunate to see the new production and spend Thanksgiving dinner with Lauren and a group of her friends from Western states.
Lauren lives in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
She is a new fan of skijoring!
